After several days of searching, a northwest Indiana woman who is suspected of being responsible for the death of her 10-year-old foster child has been placed under arrest in Michigan.
Just before 8 p.m. on Saturday in New Buffalo, Michigan, 48-year-old Jennifer Wilson was taken into custody, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.
About Dakota Levi Stevens’ death in late April, 10-year-old Wilson faces charges of reckless homicide.
Stevens, ten years old, was in Wilson’s foster care when she allegedly “laid on his midsection and called his caseworker” after he threw himself on the ground after returning from their neighbor’s house on Monday, April 25.
A half-hour before the event, Wilson’s neighbor reportedly informed police that the youngster had run to her house and wanted to be adopted. According to the prosecution, the Ring video shows the purported encounter.
Wilson’s foster home license has been canceled as of June 30, 2024, according to a DCS representative.
