A Washington state man has been sentenced to federal prison as a result of a significant fentanyl bust that took place in Minnesota almost two years ago.
According to Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges, the fentanyl-laced pills confiscated by law enforcement during the drug bust have the potential to cause the deaths of one million individuals.
In August 2022, a financial card transaction fraud call at a hotel in Bloomington sparked the initiation of a significant drug case.
Police apprehended Marcus Trice, a 38-year-old fraud suspect, and subsequently searched his belongings. The arrest took place after authorities discovered that Trice had traveled from Seattle to the Twin Cities. The information is based on federal court documents.
During the search, authorities uncovered a staggering amount of 108,843 M-30 pills that were found to contain fentanyl. Shockingly, these lethal pills were concealed within bottles of vitamins, adding layer of deception to their dangerous nature.
In January, Trice admitted possessing fentanyl to distribute it.
A federal judge sentenced Trice to six years in prison on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Minnesota.
Trice has additionally been sentenced to five years of supervised release as part of his punishment.
