In late May, a woman was found hanging from a dock in Texas, and the police have now arrested her boyfriend, James Hart, aged 51. He has been charged with tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse, according to League City Police.
Initially, authorities suspected that Giselle Tapia-Salazar had taken her own life. However, two weeks later, they apprehended two individuals who were suspected to be involved in her death. According to League City Police Lt. Eric Cox, “Because of the position of her arm, we believe she probably passed away somewhere else. Rigor mortis set in and then she was moved, her arms stayed in that position.”
According to Hart, Tapia-Salazar had disappeared after going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. However, a neighbor of the two raised doubts about their relationship, stating to KHOU-TV that they had a tumultuous love and fought just as passionately as they loved one another.
Authorities found Hart at the scene of the crime, and although he engaged with them, he became visibly distraught and retreated to his boat. When later asked about the incident, he expressed that the death felt like an inescapable nightmare.
According to her brother’s GoFundMe page, Tapia-Salazar, a single mother of four, has left behind “3 little ones for my mother and I to raise.” The page was created to help cover her funeral expenses and provide financial assistance to her family.
According to the message on the page, “It gives our family immense peace to know that my sister is no longer suffering because God has a plan for everyone.”
The page goes on to explain that the funds raised will be used to ensure that her sister receives a fitting send-off, and any remaining donations will be allocated towards providing for the three children she left behind. As of now, the fund has reached $5,100 out of its $10,000 goal.
