A preliminary hearing was held on Wednesday for the man accused of killing three individuals at a Hispanic grocery store in Montgomery. The accused appeared in court to face the charges.
In court, the detective presented the evidence they had gathered against 18-year-old Jarques Butler, who is facing three counts of capital murder.
During the trial, the detective stated that the grocery store witnessed over a dozen gunshots on June 4th, resulting in the tragic death of three men. The tragic incident resulted in the loss of Romero Lopez, his son Daniel Lopez, and their family friend George Elijah Jr.
According to the detective’s testimony, the surveillance footage revealed the presence of the getaway car, and it was the gang unit of the Montgomery Police Department that pinpointed Butler as a potential suspect. A month after the shooting incident, the officers caught Butler.
According to the police, Butler fled from them and discarded a firearm before they apprehended him. The police also stated that the firearm he threw matched the shell casings discovered at the location.
