A shooting incident at a high school football game has led to charges of attempted murder against a 16-year-old boy, as revealed by authorities.

Two teenage girls, ages 16 and 15, were hospitalized on Friday as a result of the shooting. ABC 7 Eyewitness News reported that both victims were girls.

Passaic County Technical Institute in Wayne had just emerged victorious in their season opener against Lenape High School when the sound of gunshots shattered the evening silence at around 7:30 p.m. According to a player, he estimated that he heard between seven and 10 shots being fired.

A witness told ABC 7 that she observed a teenage couple engaged in a heated argument, which escalated when the boy fired a shot at one of the girls. It is unclear whether the second victim was directly involved in the altercation.
