The alleged suspect in the murder of Tupac Shakur, Duane Keith Davis, also known as Keefe D, reportedly went undercover to implicate Sean “Diddy” Combs in the 1996 shooting. According to a new documentary, “Unsolved: Tupac and Biggie,” Keefe D was interviewed by LAPD detectives in 2018 and allegedly admitted to his involvement in the shooting. He also claimed that Diddy paid him and his nephew to carry out the attack.
The documentary features interviews with former LAPD detective Greg Kading, who investigated the murders of Tupac and Biggie Smalls, and retired FBI agent Phil Carson. Kading claims that Keefe D’s confession was recorded on a wiretap and that he was cooperating with law enforcement to avoid prosecution for a separate crime.
Diddy has denied any involvement in the shooting and was never charged in connection with Tupac’s murder. The case remains unsolved. The documentary also explores other theories and suspects in the murders of Tupac and Biggie Smalls, including Suge Knight, the Bloods gang, and corrupt police officers.
New evidence has recently come to light in the ongoing investigation of the murder of 2Pac. The evidence suggests that Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis, the primary suspect, intentionally went undercover to falsely implicate Bad Boy founder Diddy in the murder. The investigation is still ongoing in court.
According to prosecutors in a recent legal case, evidence suggests that the Compton native flew from LA to New York in 2009 with the police service. The purpose of the trip was to gather evidence that could be used against both the Bad Boy mogul and Harlem kingpin Eric ‘Von Zip’ Martin.
Months after accusing Diddy of offering him $1 million to kill Suge Knight and 2Pac, Davis agreed to work undercover with the police. He claimed that he received half of the payment along with Von Zip, as part of his efforts to implicate the producer.
In 1997, Keefe D found himself in a unique position as an “active confidential informant” in Los Angeles after the murder of Biggie Smalls. His involvement as an undercover agent was a result of being caught trafficking a significant quantity of drugs.
According to the 179-page document that has surfaced, Davis is accused of flying to New York to support the alleged conspiracy to murder 2Pac. Prosecution evidence suggests that Davis met with Von Zip while “acting in an undercover capacity” and asked for a favor for his nephew.
The prosecution claimed that Keefe D attempted to involve Mr. Martin in a drug trafficking scheme upon his return. Despite Mr. Martin’s insistence that he was no longer involved in such activities, he directed Keefe D to conduct his drug-related affairs through his nephew.
The legal filing mentions Diddy by name a staggering 77 times. One of the references is from Keefe D’s interview transcript where he accused the mogul of offering a significant sum of money to have 2Pac and Suge Knight’s heads.
There have been numerous rumors circulating in hip-hop for years, including the recent claim made by Gene Deal, Diddy’s former bodyguard, in 2021. He alleged that he witnessed Von Zip carrying a $1 million intended for Keefe D. However, this story aims to debunk such rumors and provide a clear perspective on the matter.
