A 54-year-old man named Kevin Holloway has been taken into custody in relation to a fatal shooting that took place in Sarasota, Florida. Holloway has a criminal record. According to Local 10, a guy was shot and killed on Thursday just after one in the morning in the Newtown neighborhood of Sarasota, close to Dixie Avenue and 24th Street. Holloway was promptly found and taken into custody in Miami-Dade County after the event.

Holloway has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1995, so she is no stranger to the legal system. Among his convictions, according to Local 10, are possession of cocaine and aggravated battery with a lethal weapon. Holloway will now be immediately charged with first-degree murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon following his release from jail in late 2021.

Holloway is accused by the Sarasota Police Department of one first-degree murder, two aggravated assaults, and one count of having a firearm in the hands of a convicted felon. He was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, which is close to Doral, at the time of his most recent arrest. He was awaiting extradition to Sarasota County, Local 10 reports.

The Miami Police Department was credited by the Sarasota Police Department with helping to quickly apprehend Holloway. During the search that followed the shooting, Holloway was described as armed and dangerous by Sarasota Police Chief Rex Troche. Detectives have said that callers to Sarasota County Crime Stoppers at 941-366-8477 can remain anonymous and have encouraged anyone with more information about the incident to come forward and help with the investigation. WFLA’s coverage of this community outreach included specifics.
