A tragic incident occurred in Bettendorf, Iowa, where a school bus struck a Davenport man, resulting in his untimely death. The local authorities have confirmed that the incident took place last Wednesday.
At approximately 9:22 a.m. on August 14th, the Bettendorf police were called to the intersection of Devils Glen Road and Tanglefoot Lane to attend to an accident involving a pedestrian.
When John Hayes, an 81-year-old man from Davenport, was crossing Devils Glen Road and Tanglefoot Lane, a school bus struck him. The incident took place as the bus was making a left turn onto Tanglefoot Lane. Fortunately, there were no students on the bus at the time, and the driver, a 41-year-old woman from East Moline, stayed at the scene.
Hayes passed away on August 15th at the University of Iowa Medical Center due to the injuries he sustained, as stated in a recent update.
According to the police, no charges have been filed yet as they are still investigating the incident. Durham School Services owns the bus that was involved in the incident and has a contract with the Pleasant Valley School District.
