Overnight Sunday and into Monday morning, the Los Angeles police officers were occupied with dispersing multiple street takeovers that resulted in car burnings, a sheared fire hydrant, and incidents of looting.
OnScene.TV, a news video service, has recorded footage of takeovers happening in South L.A., Manchester Square, and Compton.
Around 4 a.m. on Monday, the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Normandie was taken over by approximately 300 individuals. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that a car had been set ablaze.
According to OnScene.TV, a Wing Stop restaurant was looted by a mob who took over the intersection of Manchester and Avalon around two hours ago.
Video footage captured cars at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Western doing donuts while water sprayed from a sheared fire hydrant.
There was a reported takeover that took place at the intersection of Rosecrans and Central Avenue in Compton.
According to OnScene’s photographer, the group of people seen moving from one location to another seemed to be the same, but authorities have yet to confirm this information.
Police have not disclosed any information regarding arrests or the number of vehicles impounded.
