The NYPD hopes to obtain more information that would lead to an arrest by releasing a photo of the victim who was shot and killed on Monday on Randall’s Island, New York. The victim’s photo was made public in the hopes that someone would recognize it and provide further details.
At around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, an impromptu celebration on a soccer field turned into a tragedy when a man opened fire, shooting 44-year-old Sandra Serrano in the face and back. The victim suffered from gunshot wounds and was left in critical condition.
Serrano resided in a city-run migrant shelter close to the scene of the shooting. Two additional individuals sustained gunshot wounds but fortunately survived.
According to the police, the gunman’s rage was triggered by a robbery incident in which his necklace was stolen earlier that same evening.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,500.
