The New Orleans Police Department has reported that a shooting occurred in the Seventh Ward on Sunday (July 28), resulting in one fatality and two injuries.
According to authorities, the gunfire took place at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Joseph Guillaume Place, which is located in the 1700 block. This area spans two blocks where St. Claude Avenue merges with N. Rampart Street at the junction of St. Bernard Avenue.
Upon arrival, the authorities discovered three individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds. Sadly, a 32-year-old male was declared dead at the scene. An 11-year-old boy and a 64-year-old man were quickly transported to the hospital for immediate medical attention. The young boy is now reported to be in a stable condition, while the older man remains in critical condition.
The detectives are putting in relentless efforts to reconstruct the events that took place and to determine the culprits behind this meaningless act of violence. It is still uncertain whether the man who lost his life was the intended victim or not.
Following an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will reveal the identity of the deceased victim.
