Authorities in Manitowoc have apprehended a man and a woman from Illinois on drug possession charges.
On Sunday (August 4th), during a routine traffic stop at the Waldo Boulevard wayside, an officer from the Manitowoc Police Department noticed a truck parked with its engine still running. Upon closer inspection, the officer found two individuals sound asleep inside the vehicle.
The driver’s seat was occupied by a 39-year-old man while a 32-year-old woman from Illinois sat in the passenger seat.
After examining the man more closely, the officer spotted a smoking device that appeared to be homemade resting on the man’s lap. Additionally, a lighter was also present in close proximity, and tinfoil could be seen on the floor nearby.
The suspects were found breathing heavily and displaying symptoms that suggested they had taken narcotics. As a result, a second police unit and EMS were summoned to the scene.
The suspects in the vehicle were successfully woken up by the two officers from Manitowoc PD. In a swift manner, a search for probable cause was conducted on the vehicle.
As the officers conducted their search, they discovered a total of 25 oxycodone, 3.8 grams of fentanyl, 1.2 grams of heroin, 35.5 grams of marijuana, and a multitude of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities have apprehended both individuals involved in the incident. The male suspect, aged 39, is currently facing charges of possessing fentanyl, heroin, a schedule 2 drug, and drug paraphernalia.
Charges are being pressed against a 32-year-old woman for possessing THC (2nd offense) and drug paraphernalia. Furthermore, the woman faced additional charges upon her arrest as the jail staff discovered a plastic-wrapped object in her underwear.
After being confiscated, the substance underwent testing and was positively identified as 4.8 grams of cocaine.
The Illinois woman was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility.
