On Friday, Maine State Police began investigating two crashes that involved troopers’ vehicles being struck.
An officer was responding to a crash on the Maine Turnpike in Lewiston when the first incident occurred shortly after midnight.
According to police, Javier Martinez, a 24-year-old resident of Waterville, caused damage to two vehicles when he swerved his pickup truck into their lane.
Authorities have reported that Martinez has been summoned for OUI.
On Friday morning, a trooper was in the middle of a traffic stop when the second incident took place on Rt. 1 in Gouldsboro.
Andrew Pratt Cutler, a 71-year-old driver, sideswiped the cruiser of the officer while driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The reason for Pratt’s summons was the improper passing of a stationary emergency vehicle.
