Markee Reeder, aged 47, and Joanne McClenic, aged 53, have both been taken into custody by the police on various charges.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 10:35 p.m., law enforcement officials from the Fourth Squad apprehended a man and a woman in North Long Beach.
Detectives from the Bureau of Special Operations (BSO) noticed a red Honda driving northbound on Austin Boulevard with a rear license plate that was improperly affixed. They performed a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop in front of 4116 Austin Boulevard, Island Park. During the stop, the officers identified Joanne Mcclenic, 53, of 20 East Pine Street, as the driver, and Markee Reeder, 47, of 71 East Fulton Street, as the front passenger.
When the BSO officers apprehended defendant Reeder, he actively attempted to destroy narcotics that he had in his possession. Throughout the arrest, he displayed combative behavior by continuously pulling his arms away in an effort to eliminate evidence and resisting arrest. Eventually, the officers successfully placed defendant Reeder into police custody. During a thorough search, the officers discovered various substances on his person.
They recovered 12.39 grams of a white rocky substance suspected to be crack cocaine, 18.9 grams of a tan powdery substance believed to be heroin, 0.32 grams of a brown earthy substance believed to be psilocybin mushrooms, as well as 4 alprazolam pills, 1 blue ecstasy pill, and 1 yellow pill believed to be zolpidem tartrate. Additionally, they found a tan powdery substance believed to be heroin scattered all over his hooded sweatshirt. Due to his condition, defendant Reeder was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. On the other hand, defendant Mcclenic was arrested without incident.
Defendant Mcclenic is facing charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. Meanwhile, Defendant Reeder is facing a more extensive list of charges, including seven (7) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree, three counts (3) of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Resisting Arrest.
Fortunately, Defendant Mcclenic was released on a desk appearance ticket, with a return date set for October 1, 2024. On the other hand, Defendant Reeder will have their arraignment scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
