Authorities have reported that a teenager who was suspected of murder in Iowa was shot and killed by law enforcement officials in Anaheim on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred and was confirmed by officials in a statement.
At approximately 1:30 pm, a shooting incident occurred in the industrial park area situated on N. State College Boulevard and the 91 Freeway.
The Anaheim Police Department reported that they were present to provide support for a U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, which comprised of various agencies, such as the California Department of Corrections and the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office.
Victor Delgadillo, an 18-year-old suspect, was being sought for a homicide in Marshalltown, located approximately 50 miles northeast of Des Moines.
Police have reported that an officer-involved shooting occurred after the suspect was contacted by Task Force personnel and Anaheim Police. The reason behind the shooting remains unclear at this time.
According to a news release by the police, an Anaheim officer and other Task Force members discharged their firearms.
After being apprehended, the suspect was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, he later passed away while receiving treatment.
According to the authorities, a bullet also hit a bystander, but fortunately, the injury was not severe. The individual was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and was later discharged.
According to a witness who was present during the shooting, they reported to Eyewitness News that they heard approximately 15 to 20 gunshots while they were working.
The reason for investigators heading to Anaheim is unclear. However, the police chief of Marshalltown stated that they obtained information that indicated the suspect was located in Southern California.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
