Police in California fatally shot Victor Delgadillo, an 18-year-old who was wanted for a murder investigation in Iowa.
Law enforcement officers shot and killed an 18-year-old man who was wanted for murder in Iowa during a search warrant in Anaheim on Friday. The incident was confirmed by authorities.
According to Sgt. Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department, the incident took place on Friday at approximately 1:30 p.m. near State College Boulevard and the 91 Freeway. The Anaheim police officers were aiding the United States Marshals Service Task Force in executing a search warrant on Victor Delgadillo, a teenager suspected to be involved in an Iowa homicide that occurred on June 1.
The Anaheim Police Department officer and other members of the task force discharged their firearms after making contact with the suspect.
Police reported that the man was provided with initial medical assistance by the officers on the scene. However, he was later transferred to a hospital where he was declared dead.
According to the police, the shooting did not cause any harm to the officers on duty. However, a bystander was unfortunately hit by a bullet, causing a minor injury. The injured individual was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they received prompt medical attention and were discharged shortly after.
The shooting incident will be scrutinized by the Orange County District Attorney’s office.
