The Mower County authorities have announced that the suspect involved in a shooting incident earlier this week has been apprehended in Iowa.
The suspect was apprehended approximately 24 hours after the shooting took place. Authorities report that he was observed carrying a gun just over 13 hours following the incident.
Deputies from the Mower County Sheriff’s Office were sent to respond to reports of gunshots in the vicinity of North Everett St. in Le Roy, just before 10:45 on Tuesday night.
According to Pike, the deputies who arrived at the scene discovered evidence indicating that a shooting had occurred. Fortunately, no individuals were harmed, and there was no apparent damage to any property caused by the gunfire.
At approximately 12:15 on Wednesday afternoon, Pike reported that deputies were dispatched to the K&H Classic Stop in Le Roy after receiving a report about a 31-year-old man who was visibly intoxicated and had a holstered firearm on his hip.
According to Pike, the deputies were unable to locate the man and his vehicle despite searching for him at his address and in the community. The man in question was a local rural resident.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Office shared the information they had with the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa.
The suspect’s crashed vehicle was discovered by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa around 4:25 Wednesday afternoon. According to a post on the agency’s Facebook page, the suspect had fled but was subsequently apprehended.
Mower County officials were notified of the suspect’s arrest just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Pike.
According to Pike, the shooting reported on Tuesday night is believed to be related to the incidents in Le Roy and northern Iowa that occurred on Wednesday. The authorities have not yet released the name of the suspect involved.
