Police responded to the 700 block of Broad Street at 4:40 p.m. and discovered a man who had been wounded, according to Fritz Fragé, the Director of Public Safety for Newark.
Fragé stated that the man reported witnessing two other men in a verbal altercation before one of them brandished a handgun. Fragé stated that the individual made an attempt to flee the scene but only managed to sustain a non-life-threatening gunshot injury.
Fragé stated that the victim was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition and that the shooting is still under investigation.
