In the city of Michigan City, Indiana, A Michigan City man who was charged with a gun-related offense, in a sense, shot himself in the foot by posting self-incriminating content on social media.
Police reported that the 22-year-old man posted images of himself brandishing a gun on his social media page. The man was prohibited from possessing the gun due to a prior felony firearms conviction in the Chicago area.
At present, Raquan Perry of Country Club Hills, Illinois is being accused of selling fentanyl and facing a charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Perry fled on foot from a residence in the 600 block of Main St. on July 11 when police arrived with a search warrant, according to court documents.
However, he was apprehended in the 900 block of E. 11th St. by a more agile officer.
Perry was purportedly discovered in possession of a firearm and 15.3 grams of fentanyl, which were discovered near the location where he allegedly vaulted a fence during the foot pursuit.
Police claimed that Perry was associated with the gun found following the chase due to his social media posts, which depicted him holding a pistol that bore a striking resemblance to the weapon.
He may be sentenced to a maximum of 30 years for the drug-related offense, in addition to an additional one to six years for the firearms charge.
