Three minors from New Jersey have been apprehended following a police pursuit that culminated in a collision on the Garden State Parkway.
Police arrested three teenagers in connection with the incident: a 15-year-old from Newark, a 15-year-old from Paterson, and a 16-year-old from Orange.
The incident took place in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, shortly before 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Paramus police received a call for assistance in apprehending a stolen vehicle.
The Paramus Police came across a silver Honda Civic on Route 17 and used spike strips to stop it.
The driver, despite losing a wheel, persisted in speeding and eventually managed to reach the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway. However, control was lost and the vehicle flipped off the parkway just south of Exit 159.
According to officials, the driver deliberately crashed into the side of a police cruiser, causing the vehicle to flip over in the grass after colliding with the guardrail.
Three people were apprehended and are currently receiving medical attention. The driver, who is only 15 years old, is facing charges for possession of a stolen vehicle, assault on a police officer, and eluding. Additionally, both passengers are being charged with joyriding.
One individual is still evading capture.
Although a police cruiser was involved in an accident, fortunately, none of the officers sustained any injuries.
