In New Orleans, a shooting incident occurred on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 1) which resulted in a temporary and partial closure of the interstate.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting occurred at approximately 1:42 p.m. on the Canal Boulevard on-ramp of I-610 East.

A person who had been shot was brought to the hospital in a private vehicle.
Around 25 minutes later, the I-610 East came to a halt at the I-10/I-610 intersection due to the ongoing investigation. The closure persisted for approximately 10 minutes before the traffic resumed its usual flow.
