A tragic incident occurred in Independence, Mo. as a child fell from an apartment building on Monday morning. Unfortunately, first responders have confirmed that the child has passed away due to the severity of their injuries.
At around 10 a.m., the Independence Police Department reported that the occurrence happened at the Independence Towers Apartments located at the 700 block of North Jennings Road.
According to fire officials, a toddler sustained critical injuries after falling from an eighth-floor apartment window. According to the fire officials, the child fell a total of nine stories.
At 3 p.m, officials reported that the child had passed away due to broken bones, head trauma, and internal bleeding.
According to authorities, the toddler’s age was between 2 and 3 years old, as reported by KCTV5.
