Terrytown, La. — Louisiana State Police are investigating a Jefferson Parish crash that killed a Gretna man.
At 11:38 a.m. on July 28, troopers responded to a multi-vehicle incident on Louisiana Highway 428 in Terrytown.
Mayfield was speeding on a Kawasaki Ninja Motorcycle near Northbrook Drive when a Toyota Tundra truck backed out of a home.
The motorcycle front hit the truck’s driver’s side as it turned left at the crossroads.
Despite wearing a seatbelt, Mayfield died on the spot from her injuries. Troopers said the Toyota driver was unharmed.
When traveling by motorcycle or car, drivers should make wise selections. LSP Troop B leaders stressed that speeding affects reaction time, increases stopping distance, increases the chance of losing control of your vehicle, and limits the effectiveness of safety items like helmets and seatbelts in a crash.
