West Orange Police Chief James P. Abbott and Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, have jointly declared the charging of a teacher in relation to the attack on an 11-year-old student at Mt. Carmel Guild Academy situated on Valley Way in West Orange.
A 32-year-old man from Bayonne, NJ, named Jaron Spicer, has been charged with second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and a disorderly person offense of Simple Assault, according to officials. A photo of Mr. Spicer is shown above.
According to reports, the incident took place around April 18, 2024.
On April 22, the West Orange Police Department received a report of the assault from the victim’s mother, which led to an investigation by the police and detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
On July 16, the detectives of the Prosecutor’s office arrested Spicer and took him into custody at the Essex County Correctional Facility after concluding their investigation.
Upon his appearance in court at Essex County Central Judicial Processing (CJP), he was released with the stipulation that he must maintain no contact with the victim and regularly check in with the court as the case unfolds.
