On Wednesday morning, the New Orleans Police Department reported that an individual lost their life in a car accident on Interstate 610 near the Elysian Fields exit.
At 5:52 a.m., a report was made to the authorities regarding a collision involving an 18-wheeler and a Chevrolet Camaro. Upon arriving at the scene, paramedics confirmed the unfortunate demise of the Camaro’s driver.
Police confirmed that the 18-wheeler driver remained unharmed during the incident.
According to authorities, the Camaro driver lost control and crashed into the center guardrail while heading west on I-610 near the Elysian Field exit. Subsequently, the 18-wheeler collided with the Camaro.
Officers received additional assistance in mapping the crash scene through the deployment of a drone.
Detectives investigated the scene and as a result, I-610 West was closed near the Elysian Fields exit for approximately four hours. However, all lanes were reopened at 10 a.m. The police did not immediately release any additional information.
