According to the Iowa State Patrol, a tragic accident occurred in Wayne County on Tuesday morning at approximately 7:30 a.m., resulting in the deaths of two individuals and leaving one person with injuries. The incident involved a pickup truck that was traveling in an easterly direction on Highway 2 at County Highway S40, when it suddenly veered across the center line and collided head-on with a car.
Larry McDanel, 84, and Linda McDanel, 70, both residents of Exline, were declared dead at the scene following a fatal car accident. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were identified as the two victims of the tragic incident.
The hospital in Des Moines received the driver of the pickup truck via airlift.
At approximately 1:50 p.m., authorities were called to respond to a collision at the intersection of Noble Avenue and 150th Street, just north of Carroll County.
The driver of a semi-tractor was traveling north on Noble Avenue but neglected to stop at a stop sign. Consequently, a pickup truck that was heading east on 150th Street collided with the driver’s side of the semi-tractor.
Ronald Eischeid, a 65-year-old pickup driver from Carroll, tragically lost his life at the scene of the accident. The driver of the semi-tractor, on the other hand, was fortunate enough to escape unharmed.
In Black Hawk County, a fatal crash occurred in the afternoon, and Iowa State Patrol officers promptly responded to the scene around 3:50 p.m. According to reports, a pickup truck was heading east on Tama Road but didn’t yield to an oncoming semi-truck, leading to the collision.
A pickup truck was hit by a semi-truck, causing it to lose control and tip onto its side, ultimately landing in the west ditch. Unfortunately, the 37-year-old semi driver passed away, but their identity has not yet been disclosed. It was determined that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
