An investigation is underway following the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old man in Newark early Monday.
According to Thomas Fennelly, chief assistant prosecutor with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the city police received a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Chadwick Avenue shortly after midnight. Upon arrival, they discovered a man who had been shot.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to University Hospital. Tragically, he was declared deceased at 12:55 a.m., as confirmed by Fennelly.
Additional details have not been disclosed as the investigation is still ongoing.
