An Iowa teenager found himself in deep trouble when he was apprehended driving well over 100 mph near Ottumwa. What made matters worse was that he was behind the wheel with a suspended license.
TheĀ Iowa State Patrol hopes that this serves as a reminder to parents to have conversations with their children who are just beginning to drive or are currently learning about the Rules of the Road. It is important to discuss the risks and dangers associated with driving at excessive speeds.
In late July, a 17-year-old motorist was caught by Iowa State Troopers speeding at a staggering 123 mph. Shockingly, the young driver not only exceeded the speed limit but also recklessly drove through backyards and neighborhoods before finally coming to a stop when pursued by the police. It was further discovered that the teen was driving with a suspended license.
The Iowa State Patrol took to their Facebook page to release a statement, urging parents to have a conversation with their children about the perils of speeding.
Troopers Meislahn and Ramiro encountered a sobering incident involving a teen driver reaching speeds of 123 MPH! The driver, with an already suspended license, drove through backyards and neighborhoods before stopping. It’s a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving.
We must continue to work together to enhance driver education and responsibility among our youth. Parents, have you had the safe driving talk with your teens? Let’s work together to keep our roads safe for everyone! – per the Iowa State Patrol’s Facebook page
James Foldenauer, a man from Iowa, holds the unofficially official record for being the fastest speeder in the state. In 2009, he decided to test the limits of his modified 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa, a bike capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 mph. Despite managing to evade the police, the Iowa State Patrol closely monitored his actions from above, using an aircraft to track his speed.
Foldenauer skillfully maneuvered through traffic, deftly avoiding cars and utilizing the shoulder, all in a desperate bid to elude the pursuing police. Undeterred, law enforcement persisted, tailing him until he finally arrived at his residence in Council Bluffs.
At its fastest, Foldenauer’s vibrant orange Suzuki motorcycle achieved an astonishing speed of 188 mph. It’s difficult to comprehend such high speeds, especially on regular roads, considering that it exceeds the typical speed limit on American highways by over 100 mph.
