According to reports from the police on Sunday morning, a stabbing incident resulted in the death of a man and the injuries of two other people on a street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
At around 7:20 a.m., first responders discovered 42-year-old Melvin Gomez Nunez in front of a building on the corner of 50th Street and Third Avenue. He had multiple stab wounds. Alongside him, a 30-year-old man was also discovered with several stab wounds.
According to the authorities, it was later discovered that a 38-year-old man who had entered the Brooklyn Hospital Center with several stab wounds was actually a victim involved in the same incident. Fortunately, he is currently in stable condition.
The NYPD did not immediately make any arrests. According to officials, the suspect involved in the incident was a man who drove northbound on Third Avenue in a black Toyota Camry. At the scene, the police recovered a knife, and detectives are currently investigating the motive behind the incident.
Slim Baello, a friend of Gomez Nunez’s who he trained to be a porter and concierge, claimed that Gomez Nunez was not only a good person but also a devoted father.
Baello expressed his admiration for the deceased individual, describing him as a diligent and dedicated worker. He struggled to find the right words to fully convey his emotions.
Gomez Nunez had experience working at the Lara, a high-end apartment building in the Financial District, as well as a nearby restaurant called Da Claudio, according to him.
