According to the complaint, the wife of the 55-year-old had injuries on her leg, foot, and a gash on her hand.
According to ‘Atlanta Black Star,’ his spouse reportedly told authorities, “My husband attempted to murder me,” following the alleged assault. As per her Facebook account, his spouse pursued her education at Cornell University and Georgia Court University in New Jersey. The couple got engaged back in 2016.
During his arraignment in May, Von Rock pleaded not guilty. The Boston University graduate was released on his own recognizance and referred to an alternative court program.
No bail was set for him, but his wife was granted a temporary order of protection. According to the news outlet, Von Rock remained silent during the court proceedings, but he “smirked” as he left the courtroom.
In a 2007 interview with the ‘Wine Spectator’, the Maryland native shared a charming anecdote about his childhood. He fondly recalled how he and his siblings would stomp on Concord grapes to help make their family’s homemade wine.
When von Rock finished his studies, he relocated to New York City. It was there that his deep passion for the restaurant industry guided him towards a job at Verbena, where he served as a bartender and server. During his time there, he had the pleasure of meeting David Gordon, the wine director at Tribeca Grill. Gordon played a significant role in igniting von Rock’s fascination with wine. In fact, von Rock’s passion grew to such an extent that he eventually became the wine director at Verbena in 1997.
Von Rock took on the role of wine director for Benno at the Evelyn Hotel in 2019, but unfortunately, the hotel had to close down because of the pandemic.
Von Rock is scheduled to appear in court on September 30th.
