The U.S. Marshals Service announced on Thursday that a man who was sought for homicide in New Jersey was apprehended in Monroe County.
According to a news release, in Chestnuthill Township, at approximately 6:15 a.m., Damian Bass, 19, was apprehended at a residence located on New York Boulevard.
The Monmouth County prosecutor sought him in connection with a Aug. 26 homicide that occurred at the New Jersey Transit Long Branch Station on August 26, according to the release. Deputy U.S. Marshal Bobby Lenahan confirmed that James Hailey, a 43-year-old resident of Newark, was shot.
Bass was arraigned and transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility to await extradition to New Jersey.
