According to authorities, the perpetrator behind the baseball bat attack on a 58-year-old woman in Lower Manhattan has been identified as a 14-year-old boy who was apprehended this week. The attack was  caught-on-video and was completely random in nature.
Authorities have charged a teenager with felony assault for the random broad-daylight beating of a 58-year-old woman on Monroe Street near Market Street in the Two Bridges neighborhood that occurred on June 25th. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, the victim, who was hospitalized with bruising and swelling, was not known by the perpetrator. Surprisingly, the perpetrator did not utter a single word during the attack.
Police reported that two young-looking individuals wearing black clothing ambushed a woman from behind while she was casually walking along the sidewalk, engrossed in her phone. A shocking video of the incident captured the entire scene.
The initial suspect punches the woman in the back of the head, according to the video footage.
As the second attacker swings the black baseball bat, she instinctively backs up against the wall of a nearby store. She tries to defend herself against the duo, but the partner relentlessly kicks her and attempts to snatch her purse off her arm.
According to authorities, the arrest of the teenager was made without the need to pursue any other suspects. According to authorities, the boy is facing charges as a minor.
